Recycle Buildings in DC

The Washington Times has certainly gone through some changes over the years. The latest: It’s going to be a school — or at least the paper’s old headquarters will be.

Village Academy Capital Group LLC was issued a permit Wednesday to remodel the Times headquarters building, listed in permit documents as 3400 New York Ave. NE, and turn it into the Village Academy School. The school purchased the space for $2.25 million in October.

It was widely reported in 2010 that the Times, struggling financially and in the midst of ownership upheaval, would leave its headquarters, though the paper continues to list 3600 New York Ave. NE as its home.
